Solboat hires you the boat and, as a booking add-on, the trolling or jigging gear. You sail from Puerto Marina (Benalmádena), Puerto de la Duquesa (Manilva) or Estepona Marina, and eight of our boats need no qualification to drive.
We don't run guided fishing trips or offshore charters: what we do is put the boat in your name for the slot you book, with the gear ready on board if you've added it. You decide the time, the area and when to head back. If you have your own rods, bring them — there's room.
Within 2 miles of the coast and in daylight — the limit for licence-free boats — there's plenty of water worth fishing on this stretch: drop-offs, rocky ground and shallow banks minutes from each harbour mouth. What we won't promise you is a catch: that depends on the day, the tide and how patient you are.
When you book you can add two fishing extras: the trolling kit, for dragging lures while you motor slowly, and the jigging kit, for working vertically with the boat stopped over a mark. They're priced separately from the hire, they're set up on board before you leave, and the number of rods per boat is limited — so it's worth adding them with the booking rather than on the day.
The recreational sea fishing licence is issued by the Junta de Andalucía, it's personal and non-transferable, and it isn't part of the hire: we rent you the boat and, if you ask, the gear. If you're going to fish, sort it out yourself before you sail and respect minimum sizes, bag limits and protected species. It's public information and takes a few minutes online.

Four ways to plan the trip, depending on the gear you take and the hours you book.
You motor slowly, dragging lures through the wake. It's the most rewarding technique with several of you aboard: the boat keeps moving, you cover a lot of water and there's always someone watching a rod. It works best first thing, with the sea still flat.
With the boat stopped over a drop-off or a patch of rock, you work the jig vertically. It asks more of your technique and your arms than trolling, but it's how you reach fish that won't come up for a surface lure. Find the ground before you stop.
The most repeated plan of the summer: leave early, fish the first hours and, once the sun starts biting, anchor in a cove to swim and eat on board. A four-hour booking covers both comfortably.
With eight hours you can shift ground a couple of times, try both trolling and jigging in the same day and come back at dusk, which is the other good window. A skippered boat suits that best; if you're driving without a licence, plan to be back in daylight.
